Robust Statistics google
Robust statistics are statistics with good performance for data drawn from a wide range of probability distributions, especially for distributions that are not normal. Robust statistical methods have been developed for many common problems, such as estimating location, scale and regression parameters. One motivation is to produce statistical methods that are not unduly affected by outliers. Another motivation is to provide methods with good performance when there are small departures from parametric distributions. For example, robust methods work well for mixtures of two normal distributions with different standard-deviations, for example, one and three; under this model, non-robust methods like a t-test work badly. …

High Definition (HD) maps play an important role in modern traffic scenes. However, the development of HD maps coverage grows slowly because of the cost limitation. To efficiently model HD maps, we proposed a convolutional neural network with a novel prediction layer and a zoom module, called LineNet. It is designed for state-of-the-art lane detection in an unordered crowdsourced image dataset. And we introduced TTLane, a dataset for efficient lane detection in urban road modeling applications. Combining LineNet and TTLane, we proposed a pipeline to model HD maps with crowdsourced data for the first time. And the maps can be constructed precisely even with inaccurate crowdsourced data. …

Keyword Extraction is an important task in several text analysis endeavors. In this paper, we present a critical discussion of the issues and challenges ingraph-based keyword extraction methods, along with comprehensive empirical analysis. We propose a parameterless method for constructing graph of text that captures the contextual relation between words. A novel word scoring method is also proposed based on the connection between concepts. We demonstrate that both proposals are individually superior to those followed by the state-of-the-art graph-based keyword extraction algorithms. Combination of the proposed graph construction and scoring methods leads to a novel, parameterless keyword extraction method (sCAKE) based on semantic connectivity of words in the document. Motivated by limited availability of NLP tools for several languages, we also design and present a language-agnostic keyword extraction (LAKE) method. We eliminate the need of NLP tools by using a statistical filter to identify candidate keywords before constructing the graph. We show that the resulting method is a competent solution for extracting keywords from documents oflanguages lacking sophisticated NLP support. …

EgoCoder google
Programming has been an important skill for researchers and practitioners in computer science and other related areas. To learn basic programing skills, a long-time systematic training is usually required for beginners. According to a recent market report, the computer software market is expected to continue expanding at an accelerating speed, but the market supply of qualified software developers can hardly meet such a huge demand. In recent years, the surge of text generation research works provides the opportunities to address such a dilemma through automatic program synthesis. In this paper, we propose to make our try to solve the program synthesis problem from a data mining perspective. To address the problem, a novel generative model, namely EgoCoder, will be introduced in this paper. EgoCoder effectively parses program code into abstract syntax trees (ASTs), where the tree nodes will contain the program code/comment content and the tree structure can capture the program logic flows. Based on a new unit model called Hsu, EgoCoder can effectively capture both the hierarchical and sequential patterns in the program ASTs. Extensive experiments will be done to compare EgoCoder with the state-of-the-art text generation methods, and the experimental results have demonstrated the effectiveness of EgoCoder in addressing the program synthesis problem. …
